Recoveries continue to outnumber new Covid cases in Sikkim

GANGTOK, 19 June: Sikkim’s figure of the recovered cases of COVID-19 has further improved to 19,209 with the discharge of 299 more persons from the home isolation on Friday after their full recoveries. The recovery rate of COVID-19 in Sikkim has now improved to 82.8% with the daily record of more recoveries than new cases of novel coronavirus.

On the other hand, 151 persons were found positive for COVID-19 during the testing of 1461 samples on Friday. The daily positivity rate of COVID-19 comes to 10.3%. A total of 117 new cases were reported in RT-PCR testing of 772 samples and 34 more persons were found COVID-19 positive in rapid antigen testing of 679 samples. Out of 151 new cases in the State, 41 were registered in East District, 54 in West District, 51 in South District and 05 in North District.

In the meantime, Sikkim’s COVID death toll has reached 291 as one more person succumbed to coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours. The only COVID death has been reported from STNM hospital.

Active cases of coronavirus in Sikkim have declined to 2751, of whom 18 are currently in ICU facilities of STNM hospital and Central Referral Hospital. Among new COVID patients, only seven were admitted in hospital.

Sikkim’s tally of the confirmed cases of COVID-19 has now increased to 19209.
