Renovated primary school building inaugurated at Biraspati Prasai School

The renovated building of the primary section of BiraspatiParsaiSenior Secondary School at Marchak in Ranipoolwas inaugurated by area MLA, SonamTsheringVenchungpa, on Wednesday.

The renovated building has student-friendly class rooms along with a library and other facilities, including a play area for students.

Mr Venchungpa was accompanied to the opening ceremony by chairperson, Sikkim Labour Welfare Board, Ganga Parsai, ADC [East] PariBishnoi and officials from Education Department. Retired teachers and former students were also invited to the inauguration.

Principal,BiraspatiParsai SSS, Sandhya Sharma,informed that the renovation was carried out with a sanction of Rs 7 lakh from Education Department and financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh from the District Collectorate Office [East].

She further mentioned that retired teachers and ex-students of the school also contributed towards repairs and fencing works.

In his address, Mr Venchungpathanked the Education Department and the DC Office for their assistance and said that the state government was investing to provide better infrastructure and facilities to students.

He suggested that the Principal start a mentorship programme for students by inviting officials from elite services and established personalities of Sikkim to take students under their wings.

The brief inaugural ceremony also included a cultural presentation by students and concluded with vote of thanks proposed by CD Lepcha, a teacher at the school.
