SCA to organize State Level Online Chess Tournament 2021

To engage the people’s mind in healthy activities amid this coronavirus pandemic, Sikkim Chess Association [SCA] is organizing the State Level Online Chess Tournament 2021 here on 06 June. The tournament has Open and different age categories of U-10 [boys & girls], U-12 [boys & girls], U-14 [boys & girls], U-16 [boys & girls] and U-18 [boys & girls]. The tournament carries a total prize money of Rs 25,000.

SCA general secretary, MahendraDhakal mentioned that All India Chess Federation [AICF] is planning to conduct a national level online chess tournament so the selected players from this state-level online chess tournament will get the chance to represent Sikkim in the national tournament. He further added that the association has also come forward with the tournament to give a healthy break to the people during this pandemic by engaging their minds in creative activities through chess.

The tournament has a cash prize of Rs 5,000 to the winner, while Rs 2,500 to the runner-up and Rs 2,000 to the second runner-up and cash prizes will be provided to other players in top 20 of the tournament along with winners in different age categories. The tournament will be played between 5 PM to 7 PM on 06 June and AICF registration is mandatory for the participants. There is no entry fee for players to participate in the tournament.
