SFA team to play in Hero Women’s Jr Nationals

GANGTOK, 09 Jun:

A 20-member Sikkim Football Association [SFA] team will represent Sikkim in the Hero Women’s Junior [U-17] National Football Championship 2022 to be held from 15 June at Guwahati, Assam.

The team will be accompanied by the chief coach Pushpa Gurung, coach Alpan Lepcha, physiotherapist, Dr Rinzi Lhamu Bhutia and SuzanaRai as team manager.

In the league stage, Sikkim will take on Arunachal Pradesh on 21 June, Goa on 23 June and finally Himachal Pradesh on 25 June.

An SFA press release mentions that a team of executive members of SFA visited Bhaichung Stadium, Namchi this morning to see the final phase of the coaching camp of the state U-17 women’s team for the said national championship.

The release informs that the first phase of the coaching camp was held from 25 April to 06 June at Soreng and then it was shifted to Bhaichung Stadium on 08 June and will continue till 16 June. The state team is scheduled to leave for Assam for the championship on 17 June.

SFA has thanked Palden Bhutia for helping to coordinate the entire coaching camp at Soreng and Girmee Dolma Tamang for providing special coaching to goalkeepers. The team is highly motivated and focused for the upcoming tournament, the release adds.
