Sikkim completes seven days without any new Covid infections

The number of active cases of Covid-19 in Sikkim dropped to two on Thursday with one more patient making a full recovery and no new cases being reported in the past 24 hours.

As per the Daily Report of Covid-19 in Sikkim issued by the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme of Health Department on Thursday morning, both the Covid patients are asymptomatic and are currently under home isolation.

As per the IDSP report, all the 94 samples screened for the virus in the past 24 hours returned negative.

Sikkim’s tally of confirmed cases of Covid-19 detected since testing began here more than two years back on 28 Feb, 2020, continues to hold at 39,165 with the state having remained free of any new infections for seven straight days.

Sikkim’s count of the recovered caseshas now reached 37,964 while the Covid death toll holds at 452 with no new Covid deaths reported in the State for two months now. The last Covid death in Sikkim was recorded on 27 March earlier this year.

In continuation of the Covid vaccination initiative, Sikkim administered 237 doses of CorBEvax to children aged between 12 to 14 years and 38 shots of Covaxin to those aged between 15 to 18 on Wednesday. Similarly, 23 adults took their regular Covishield shots while 65 took the precautionarythird dose of Covishield yesterday.
