Sikkim loses 133rd life to Covid
Gangtok, 24 Jan: Sikkim recorded another COVID-19 related death when a 76-year old lady from Aritar in East District passed away shortly after testing positive at Rhenock Community Health Centre on Saturday. This was the 133rd Covid-related death in the State. and his daily health bulletin in Sunday,
Health Department State IEC Officer, Sonam Gyaltsen Bhutia, informed that the patient was brought
to the Rhenock CHC with fever and some other complications on Saturday morning. She tested positive for COVID-19 in rapid antigen testing and passed away at around 9:35 AM in the female ward of Rhenock CHC. Her passing away is being registered as a COVID death with co-morbidities as she was
also suffering from hypertension. Sikkim meanwhile continued to report much lower infections of Novel
Coronavirus and only three new cases were reported in the last 24 hours taking the state’s tally of confirmed cases to 6,071 on Sunday. On the other hand, the number of recovered cases has further improved to 5,716 with the new recovery and discharge of nine more patients on Saturday. There are currently 127 active cases of novel coronavirus in the State and no one in the ICU. The three cases were picked up from 197 tests on Saturday, of which two were found in RT-PCR testing of
163 samples and one was detected in rapid antigen testing of 24 samples. Among the new cases are two persons from Lower Lingding in Gangtok and the lady from Aritar, who passed
away at Rhenock CHC.
