Sikkim's Covid toll climbs to 333 with two more deaths.

GANGTOK, 27 July: Active cases of novel coronavirus have increased to 3075 in Sikkim with 277 new cases of COVID-19 reported in the last 24 hours. Out of 277 new cases in the State, 98 were registered in East District, 101 in West District and 78 in South District. Sikkim’s tally of the confirmed cases of COVID-19 has reached 25,616.

In the meantime, two new COVID deaths have been reported in Sikkim in the last 24 hours. Both COVID deaths have been registered at STNM hospital. Sikkim’s COVID death toll is standing at 333.

As per daily COVID-19 report of Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme of Health Department a total of 277 samples were returned positive for COVID-19 during the testing of 1789 samples on Monday and the state daily positivity rate comes to 15.5%. It has to be mentioned here that 153 new cases were found in RT-PCR testing of 938 samples, while 123 persons were tested positive for COVID-19 in rapid antigen testing of 848 samples and one more case was reported in TruNat testing of three samples.

On the other hand, 170 persons were discharged from home isolation on Monday after their full recoveries to further improve the figure of recovered cases of COVID-19 in Sikkim to 21,941. The State recovery rate currently stands at 86.5%.

There are new admissions of 23 COVID patients in hospitals in the State and 14 COVID patients are currently under treatment at ICU facilities of STNM hospital and Central Referral Hospital.
