Sikkim’s daily test positivity rate for Covid stays low at 1.4%

Sikkim’s daily test positivity rate came in at 1.4% on Sunday in Sikkim with only four new cases of Covid detected from the screening of 281 samples yesterday.

As per the Daily Report of COVID-19 in Sikkim released by the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme of Health Department this morning, while three people tested in RT-PCR testing of 184 samples, one more case was picked up in rapid antigen testing of 96 samples.

Of the four new cases in the State, three were registered in East District and one in West District.

Sikkim’s tally of confirmed cases of COVID-19 currently stands at 32,461.

In the meantime, five more COVID patients were discharged from home isolation in the past 24 hours after making full recoveries to further improve the number of recovered cases in the state to 31,609. Sikkim’s current recovery rate stands at 98.4%.

There are 105 active cases of Covid-19 in Sikkim at present, of whom 12 are currently in hospital and the rest recovering under home isolation. Four of those in hospital are currently in ICU.

No under-18 year old Covid patient is currently hospitalised.

On the other hand, 687 people received their Covishield jabs on Saturday, 66 getting their first jab while 621 completed their vaccination schedule with the second dose.
