Sikkim’s test positivity rate holds low at 1.5%, no new deaths
Gangtok, 16 Nov:
For all the rumours circulating in the State, Covid infections continued to remain low in the State, coming in at seven this morning from the screening of 475 samples yesterday and giving Sikkim a daily test positivity rate of 1.5%.
As per the Daily Report of COVID-19 in Sikkim issued by the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme of Health Department, while four of the new cases were picked up in RT-PCR testing of 147 samples, three people tested positive in rapid antigen testing of 326 samples.
Of these seven cases, five were registered in East District and one each in West and South Districts.
In the meantime, Sikkim’s count of recovered cases has inched up to 31,256 with five more Covid patients making full recoveries and getting discharged from home isolation yesterday. The State’s current recovery rate stands at 98.4%.
There are 117 active cases of Covid in the State at present, 20 of whom are with symptoms severe enough to require hospitalisation and the rest are on their way to recovery under home isolation. Further, three of the Covid patients in hospital are in ICU.
Significantly, Sikkim’s COVID toll continues to hold at 401 with no COVID deaths reported in the last 24 hours.
On the vaccination front, the state administered 336 doses of Covishield vaccine on Monday, 315 people completing their vaccination schedule with the second dose and 21 receiving their first dose yesterday.
