Sirijunga Sawan Tongnam celebrated at Tyongsi Sirijunga Mangheem


Gyalshing, 19 Dec [IPR]: The 317th birth anniversary of Mahatma TyongsiSirijunga was celebrated with great honour and passion at the Tyongsi Sirijunga Mangheem premises at Martam, West Sikkim, today.

Ministe rLok Nath Sharma, who is also the area MLA, attended as the chief guest in special presence of Member of Parliament (LokSabha) Indra Hang Subba, Advisor Education Deptt. MP Phurumboo, Advisor IPR Deptt. Birendra Tamling, Chairman SABCO JBLimboo, President Gyalshing Nagar Panchayat Devendra Sharma, Panchayats, BDO HeeMartam BAC PratibhaTamang and others.

The Minister, in his address, encouraged gathering to imbibe wisdom and teachings of TyongsiSirijunga in practice to pay him true tribute and honour.

He also highlighted future scope of introducing Mahatma TyongsiSirijunga globally, with the construction of sanctioned National Highway through various GPUs of GyalshingBermiokconstituency.

He also underlined upcoming developmental projects of Tourism at Legship, establishment of Sherpa Bhawan, additional school buildings, auditorium in various schools, Kaanstaar Developmental project and many others in near future.

He emphasized on the vision of the ruling government for social, cultural, religious, literary and economic development of all communities, equally, under the leadership of the Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang.

Further, he also informed that the construction work pertaining to extension and beatification of project at Chayataal in phase II has been commenced at an sanctioned cost of Rs 18 crore and added that the extended project reflects strong political will and warm gesture of the state government to develop, preserve and protect culture and legacy of Limboo community.

He appealed to people of the constituency to be more progressive and hardworking to take benefits of availed schemes and programmes initiated by the government.

Addressing the gathering, Member of Parliament (LokSabha) Indra Hang Subba, articulated on historical significance of the day and said that the Mangheem premisesis the first place in the state where the Limboo language was taught and created awareness on literary consciousness.

He also encouraged scholars and the students to conduct research work for knowledge and strengthening communal harmony.

He also recalled commendable role accomplished by various literary personalities for the development of Limboo language. He informed that the students of higher education can undergo PhD course inLimboo along with Bhutia and Lepcha language.

Further, he elucidated cause of delay in previous regime in fulfilling long pending demand of LimbooTamang community in the state and reassured to provide justice to the community under the leadership of the Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang.

The Keynote speaker, SPMangyung, highlighted the lifelong contributions and sacrifices of TyongsiSirijunga for the society.

The president of the TyongsiSirijungaSawan Yen Celebration Committee ABLimboopresented the welcome address.

Earlier, the Minister and the MP offered prayers at Mangheem, visited the Village Craft Center and also applauded creative efforts made by Protector Group of Sumbok by displaying handmade products and electrical devices with the concept of reduce, reuse and recycle, in the premises.

On the occasion, Shena 05 Multi Tools, developed by innovator Bissu Hang Limboo, was handed over to various GPUs and institutions of GyalshingBermiok constituency.

The programme also saw colourful cultural performances and traditional presentations.
