Gangtok, 17 Aug: Sikkim Krantikari Morcha has threatened“strong legal action”against Hamro Sikkim

Party working president, Bhaichung Bhutia, for what the party has countered, were intentional lies floated by him with the intention of misleading the people and causing disaffection among them.

Addressing a press conference today, Sikkim Krantikari Morcha party spokesperson, Jacob Khaling, also demanded an apology from Mr Bhutia for his recent claims that he was in possession of a signed manifesto by SKM president, Chief Minister PS Tamang, promising that should SKM win the 2019 elections, it will give Sikkim a Chief Minister from the Bahun-Chettri community and a Depurty CM from the Bhutia-Lepcha community. Mr Khaling challenged Mr Bhutia to present the said signed manifesto by 03 September, and in the event that he cannot, apologise to the people for lying to them. Mr Khaling stressed that not a single page of the 111-page SKM manifesto for 2014 or the 132- page manifesto for the 2019 elections carries such promise. Mr Khaling also questioned why Mr Bhutia has suddenly started issuing communally-divisive statements and instigating divisions among the people.

“Bhaichung Bhutia has shown his real face and exposed his hidden agenda with his communal

statements. Politics is secondary for us but the unity of Sikkim is our priority so we will never allow Bhaichung Bhutia’s narrow mindset to succeed,” he countered today. He also rejected Mr Bhutia’s allegations that the SKM Government was not giving priority to sports and invited him to visit the sports

infrastructures created by the SKM government across Sikkim to see for himself the strides made in the sector. The press conference was also addressed by Bikash Basnet
