Sunday pause delivers only one new case of COVID
GANGTOK, 04 Jan:
Only one new case of novel coronavirus was reported in the state today after a resident of Yuksom, West Sikkim, tested positive in Rapid Antigen Testing.
It may be mentioned here that only 25 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours as the VRD Lab at STNM Hospital is shut on Sundays and no RTPCR tests were conducted. On regular days, Sikkim averages upwards of 200 tests. That said, the dip in numbers has been consistent over the past week except the outbreaks at the Namchi and Gangtok prisons.
Sikkim’s tally of the confirmed cases of COVID-19 has now reached 5921, in which 5212 have been discharged from facility and home isolation in the State. Three patients are currently admitted in the ICU facility of the COVID dedicated STNM hospital in Gangtok.
In his daily health bulletin on Monday, Health Department State IEC Officer, Sonam Gyaltsen Bhutia mentioned that all nine samples tested by TrueNat were found negative for COVID-19, while one new case was detected in rapid antigen testing of 16 samples.
