Today-Zorbas in finals of CM’s Gold Cup Archery


Gangtok, 02 Feb: Today-Zorbas [Kalimpong] secured a place in the finals of the 19th Chief Minister’s Gold Cup Archery Tournament [Compound Bow] out-shooting Pemayangtse Dapen 38 to 25 here at the Archery Shooting Range at Tenzing Namgyal Memorial Ground, Tathangchen. The second semi-final

match of the tournament will be played between TAC [Namchi] and Sichey Mavericks on Wednesday.

The final match of the tournament is scheduled for 06 February. The tournament carries a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh for the winners and Rs 1 lakh for runners-up and is organized by the Sikkim Archery Association [SAA]. SAA publicity secretary, Karma Denzongpa, informed today that the 19th edition of this prestigious tournament had begun on 23 February 2020 with 23 teams, including seven from Bhutan, two from West Bengal and 14 from Sikkim, but the association had to stop the tournament

on 07 March due to COVID pandemic and the ensuing lockdown. He added that after consulting with the concerned authorities and by following all COVID protocols, the association resumed the tournament

on 23 January. He informed the four teams from Bhutan had already reached the next round of the tournament but since they were unable to come for the tournament, the association redrew the fixture to

resume the tournament with 14 teams.
