Traffic Police supplement with 16 new motorcycles

Chief Minister PS Tamang today flagged off a fleet of new motorcycles of Traffic Police from MG Marg here.

The fleet of 16 new Royal Enfield motorcycles has been apportioned between the districts with 12 to be stationed in East Sikkim, two in South Sikkim, and one each for West and North Sikkim.

In a Facebook post about the ceremony, the CM shares that the State Government has the highest regard for the police force and will provide every assistance towards improving resources to help the force carry out its duties with more efficiency.

“The motorcycles will aid our forces manoeuvre through congested traffic and reach spots which are inaccessible for vehicles. It will also assist in swift response in numerous matters,” the CM goes on to explain.

He adds that the government looks forward to supplementing more resources for the police force in the days to come to further strengthen the law and order situation in the State.

Also on the day, Traffic Police Helpline number - 8900295999 - was dedicated to the people. This number will be open 24x7 for citizens to call in, sms or share photographs via WhatsApp of possible traffic violations.
