Two Khelo India Training Centres inaugurated in Mangan


Mangan, 30 May (IPR):

Khelo India, Boxing Training Centre at Mangshila and Archery Training Centre at Mangan School, for the district was officially inaugurated by MLA Dzongu and Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Department.


The ceremony was attended by MLA Dzongu, Pintso Namgyal Lepcha and Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Department, RajuBasnet, as the chief guest and guest of honour.

Also present were, DC Mangan, Director SYA Deptt, Deputy Director SYA Deptt Mangan, JD SYA Deptt, BDO Mangan, SYA Deptt Staff, JD Education, Coaches, Sports Personals, Principals, HMs, Teachers, Staff and Students.


MLA Dzongu, PintsoNamgyal Lepcha in his address, expressed his gratitude towards the national program Khelo India and department of Sports and Youth Affairs for aiding in the development of sports and one’s fitness in the district.

Talking to the students, he asked them to take full benefit of the facilities provided by the training centre, and motivated them to appear in nation level tournaments.

He appreciated the work of Amateur Boxing Club Mangshila for aiding in the development of boxers in the region.


On his brief address, Secretary Sport Deptt, RajuBasneet, congratulated the students and trainers for the establishment of the Archery Center and Boxing Centre and wished luck to the trainees for future endeavours.


The event also witnessed demonstration of a boxing bout, archery and introduction of trainees and coach. On the occasion an appreciation Letter was also given to Robin Limboo (Member of U-25 Sikkim Cricket Team) for his achievements in field of cricket.


Different traditional dance were also presented by the students of Government Sr. Sec. School Mangan and Government Sr. Sec. School Mangshila.
