Two more die with nCoV taking Sikkim’s COVID-19 to 117.

GANGTOK, 07 Dec: Sikkim has recorded two more deaths taking the COVID-19 related death toll to 117 on Monday. One 27-years-old lady from Central Pendam in East District and another 50-years-old man from Daramdin in West District succumbed to novel coronavirus with comorbidities.

In the daily health bulletin on Monday, Health Department State IEC Officer, Sonam Gyaltsen Bhutia mentioned that one 27-years-old lady from Central Pendam was passed away at around 10:35 PM Sunday night here at COVID dedicated STNM hospital. She was admitted in STNM hospital on 04 December after being reported positive for COVID-19 in RT-PCR testing at Central Referral Hospital. He informed that the patient had liver problem with many other comorbid conditions.

Another 50-years-old man from Daramdin was also passed away here at STNM hospital at around 7:15 AM this morning, Mr Bhutia informed. He added that the patient was admitted in STNM hospital on 30 November after tested COVID-19 positive in the rapid antigen testing. He mentioned that the patient has the comorbidities of Quadriplegic and Cervical Spinal Injury.

In the meanwhile, Sikkim’s tally of the confirmed cases of COVID-19 stands on 5203 with the reports of six fresh cases of novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours in the State. In the other hand, the figure of discharged patients of COVID-19 in Sikkim has further improved to 4622. The active cases of novel coronavirus in the state are now 371, of whom six are currently in the ICU facility of COVID dedicated STNM hospital.

It is informed that six new cases of novel coronavirus were reported from the testing of 43 samples on Sunday, in which one person was found positive for COVID-19 in TrueNat testing of 13 samples and five more new cases were reported in the rapid antigen testing of 30 samples. There was no testing in RT-PCR as VRD Lab was closed on Sunday. Of the six new cases in the State, four were reported from East District and one each in West District and South District.

The new cases reported in Sikkim are one person from Bojoghari, one from near Rumtek Monastery, one from Daragaon, Tadong and one from near District Court in Sichy in East District. Likewise, one person from Hee Gaon, Dentam in West District and one from Upper Singhithang in South District were also tested COVID-19 positive.
