Village patrolling and miking conducted in response to rise in South Sikkim’s Covid-19 cases

Sikkim Police West District have been going to the people in rural parts of West District to create awareness on COVID appropriate behaviour with an objective to curb the rise of coronavirus cases in the district. After seeing the rise of COVID cases in the West district, police stations under Soreng sub-division, West district have taken up rural outreach mission for COVID-19 awareness with utmost seriousness.

Regarding the same, a team of police led by Senior SP [West],Tashi Wangyal Bhutia along with SDPO Soreng,Mahendra Pradhan conducted village patrolling and miking on Monday in villages falls under Soreng Police Station, Sombaria Police Station and Nayabazar Police Station. The team also visited isolation centres in various wards and GPUs in these areas and checked safety and security of the ones under quarantine and urged the people of villages to stay indoors, avoid gatherings and follow the COVID safety protocol and lockdown guidelines as directed by the State government.

The senior officials were also accompanied by SHOs, II-SHOs, ICs of OPs with their team including village guards.
