With 27 new cases, active Covid cases in Sikkim stand at 320.
GANGTOK, 03 Dec: Active cases of novel coronavirus have increased to 320 in Sikkim with the report of 27 new cases in the last 24 hours ending 8 AM Thursday. In the meantime, the figure of discharged patients of COVID-19 has improved to 4579 in the State with the discharge of seven more persons from the facility and home isolations on Wednesday. Sikkim’s tally of the confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported so far has now reached 5100. Five COVID-19 patients are currently admitted in the ICU facility of COVID dedicated STNM hospital.
Twenty-seven fresh cases of novel coronavirus were reported from the testing of 191 samples on Wednesday, in which 18 samples were tested positive for COVID-19 in RT-PCR testing of 129 samples, while two more were found COVID-19 positive in TrueNat testing of 26 samples and seven new cases were reported from the rapid antigen testing of 36 samples.
In the daily health bulletin in Thursday, Health Department State IEC Officer, Sonam Gyaltsen Bhutia informed that of the 27 new cases in the State, 16 were reported in East District, 09 in West District and 02 in South District.
While giving details of new cases reported in last 24 hours, he informed that the sample of patients collected in different wards of STNM Hospital reported positive for COVID-19 were one patient of Melli-Chalisey in Ortho ward, one from near Tamang Gump in Sichey from ENT, one from Phewa Busty, Tadong, one from Bhanu Path, Gangtok and one from Gynae ward.
Two cases were reported from Pakyong, which includes one person from Nav Gaon and another from near St Xavier’s School and one person from Sudunglakha was also found COVID-19 positive. Likewise, new cases reported at in and around the capital are one person from Bojoghari, one from Pani House, one from Development Area, One from Maney Gaon, Lower Shyari, one from Lower Sichey and one from MM Rasaily Road, Sichey. There are two more cases reported from Tadong, in which one person from 5th Mile and another from 6th Mile.
Bhutia informed that two persons from Mangalbaria, four from Gyalshing District Hospital, one from Gyalshing, one from Yuksom and one from Gerethang in West District and one from Upper Boomtar and one from Tanzi Namthang in South District were also tested positive for COVID-19.
