With 3 more deaths in a day Sikkim’s COVID toll climbs to 115.
GANGTOK, 05 Dec: Sikkim has witnessed three more COVID-19 related deaths taking the death toll in Sikkim to 115 on Saturday. One 53-years-old man from Development Area, Gangtok with comorbidities and one 56-years-old man from near Krishi Bhawan, Tadong and one 42-years-old man from below DC Office, Sichey without any comorbid conditions were registered in COVID deaths.
In the daily health bulletin on Saturday, Health Department State IEC Officer, Sonam Gyaltsen Bhutia informed that one 53-years-old man from Development Area, Gangtok was passed away at around 8:40 AM this morning. The patient was tested positive for COVID-19 on 19 November and was admitted in COVID dedicated STNM hospital next day. He informed that the patient had comorbid condition of chronic kidney disease.
Another 56-years-old man from near Krishi Bhawan, Tadong was brought to emergency ward of STNM hospital with medical complication on Friday and was passed away after some hours at around 9:50 AM. The sample of the patient was reported COVID-19 positive in TrueNat. Mr Bhutia informed that the patient was diagnosed as acute respiratory distress syndrome and COVID pneumonia and does not had any comorbid condition.
Likewise, a 42-years-old man from below DC Office in Sichey was rushed to STNM hospital after having some complication but was declared dead on the arrival by the hospital at around 4:25 PM on Friday evening. He mentioned that the sample of the patient was tested positive for COVID-19 and had no any comorbidities.
Active cases of novel coronavirus in Sikkim have increased to 367 with the reports of 21 fresh cases of COVID-19 in the State in the last 24 hours ending 8 AM Saturday. The state tally of the confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported so far is now stands on 5168, of whom 4596 have already been recovered and discharged from the facility and home isolations. There are six COVID-19 patients are currently in the ICU facility of COVID dedicated STNM hospital.
In the daily health bulletin on Saturday, Health Department State IEC Officer, Sonam Gyaltsen Bhutia mentioned that of the 21 new cases of novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours, 19 were reported in East District and 02 in West District. He informed that these new cases were detected from the testing of 173 samples on Friday, in which 16 were comes out in RT-PCR testing of 117 samples, three in TrueNat testing of 17 samples and two from the rapid antigen testing of 39 samples.
There are five new cases reported from Sichey, in which one person from below Higher Secondary School in Upper Sichey, two from Sichey but presently in Siliguri, one from above Tamang Gumpa and one from below District Court, while four more persons from Tadong area were found positive for COVID-19, of whom two persons from 5th Mile, one from Daragaon, one from near Krishi Bhawan and one 24-years-old lady from Tadong who cannot be contacted over the given number during the testing.
New cases of COVID-19 positive reported at in and around the capital area one person from Arithang, one from AG quarter in Shyari, one from near taxi stand in Lingding and one from Upper Chandmari. Similarly, one person from Manbay Dhanbari in Tumin, one from Rungdung Rhenock, one from Chewrebotey in Central Pendam and one from Aritar, Rhenock in East District were also reported positive for COVID-19. He informed that one army personnel, who returned on duty from the home and was in the quarantine facility, was also tested COVID-19 positive and he will be shifted to Army hospital in Bagdorga on Sunday.
There are two new cases reported from Daramdin in West District.
