With Eight new cases, Sikkim’s Covid count crosses 6k.

GANGTOK, 13 Jan: Sikkim’s tally of the confirmed cases of COVID-19 has crossed 6000-mark and stands at 6004 with the reports of eight fresh cases of novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours. In the meanwhile, 10 new recoveries of COVID patients have taken the figure of recovery cases to 5469 in Sikkim. The state has now 311 active cases of novel coronavirus, of whom four are currently admitted in the ICU facility of COVID-dedicated STNM hospital.

In the daily health bulletin on Wednesday, Health Department State IEC Officer, Sonam Gyaltsen Bhutia mentioned that all eight new cases were reported in East District. He added that eight fresh cases of novel coronavirus were reported from the testing of 377 samples on Tuesday, which were found in RT-PCR testing of 299 samples.

While giving the details of new cases reported from in and around the capital, he mentioned that one person from Pani House, one from Lower Chandmari, JN Road, Thapa Gaon and one from Burtuk were tested positive for COVID-19. Likewise, one person from Pradhan Gaon, Rhenock-Aritar, one from Lingtam Dak Line, Rongli and one from Upper Mangzim, Yangyang in South District were also reported COVID-19 positive.

Mr Bhutia informed that one 22-years-old man from Gangtok and one 23-years-old lady from Lower Sichey were not traceable over the given phone numbers during the testing and urged them to immediately contact the concerned authorities.
