Summit Report

Gangtok, 12 Jan:

Around 70 participants attended a workshop on acting and technical aspects of filmmaking here at Tathangchen on Tuesday.

The daylong workshop was a personal initiative of the Advisor to the Information Technology Department, Tenzing Lamtha, in collaboration with Sikkim Film, a production house.

Professional film technicians from Kolkata and Mumbai were present as resource persons and provided participants an introduction to the basics of acting and other technical aspects of filmmaking.

Speaking to media persons, Sikkim Film founder, Raj Sitaula, said that although interest in the process of filmmaking and acting has been increasing among the youth here, in the absence of even basic training on the craft, they lacked confidence to audition.

As for today’s workshop, it covered introduction to the basics of acting, videography, still photography and drone operation.

Mr Sitaula thanked Mr Lamtha for taking a personal interest and initiative in the growth of filmmaking in the State.

Such efforts would continue in the days to come, he added.

Mr Sitaula also shared plans of making short films with artists and technicians from Sikkim in the near future and promote local artists in web series.
