Sikkim United Taekwondo Dojang [SUTD] on Sunday felicitated its medal winners and participants for their performance in the 1st Sikkim Open Invitation Taekwondo Championship held from 23 to 25 January.
The championship was organised by Namchi District Taekwondo Association under the aegis of Sikkim Amateur Taekwondo Association. SUTD team was led by Ashish Bagdas as team coach and Priyadarshani Jyoti Baniya as poomsae coach.
As per a press release issued by SUTD head coach Bijay Gurung [4th Dan Black Belt] in Kyorugi, SUTD members, Roshan Shrestha, Sujal Gurung, Roshan Shah, Anirudh Rasaili, Aarush Pradhan and Niyati Chettri bagged a gold medal each in the championship, while the silver medallists are Rhythem Darjee, Yashita Kumari, Alisha Rai, Nikash Sarki and Ayushma Biswakarma. Likewise, Jaishan Dhakal, Maanav Deep Gurung, Prayish Basnet and Kaira Wongmoo Gurung won a bronze medal each in Kyorugy.
Likewise, Ismarika Gurung and Andrela Gurung won a gold medal each in individual poomsae, while the team of Andrela Gurung, Aayana Rai and Kalzong Uden Bhutia won a gold medal in team poomsae.
Similarly, Aayana Rai also bagged a silver medal in individual poomsae. Ismarika Gurung of SUTD was awarded the Best Poomsae Player of the Tournament in girls’ category, while another member Binny Tamang adjudged the Best Referee of the Tournament.
Binny Tamang, Chultim Palmu Bhutia, Peggyla Bhutia, Gokarna Chettri, Sonam Choden Bhutia, Sabina Gurung, Devi Maya Sharma, Deepika Sharma and Angilina Rai from SUTD served the championship as referees.
