SUMMIT REPORT, Gangtok 18 Feb:

Citizen Action Party-Sikkim has expressed deep concern over Sikkim Police’s continued failure to arrest Samson Tamang despite multiple FIRs filed against him for his inflammatory remarks against the Khas community.

Regarding the same, CAP Sikkim representatives Prashant Babu Chettri, Deependra Rai, Karma Tshering Bhutia, Tashi Bhutia, Dhiren Rai and L Bhujel visited the office of the Director General of Police, Sikkim today.

A CAP press release informs that in the absence of the DGP, the delegation met with Inspector General of Police [CB-CID] Manoj Tiwari to discuss the issue.

During the meeting, CAP representatives inquired about the progress of investigation in the case. They emphasized the need to expedite the arrest, highlighting that the delay has incited public outrage, particularly within the Khas community.

The party also submitted a memorandum to the IGP, underscoring the necessity for swift and decisive action to uphold justice and maintain communal harmony, it is informed.
