Sikkim Police has intensified patrolling in the Rawtey Rumtek, Neopaney Gaon Rodung, and Rey areas here following public complaints alleging increase in incidents of public nuisance and reckless driving there.
On 19 March, a police patrol led by PI Tara Sharma, SHO Ranipool, covered the hotspots and severel vehicles challaned for various traffic violations, it is informed.
The patrolling team also came upon a group of college students at the riverbank, and official records inform that the students were “counselled” and advised to avoid loitering in the area.
“Such patrols lower the chances of crimes occurring because people are less likely to commit offenses when they see law enforcement personnel nearby,” said an official from the Ranipool Police Station.
