Governor Om Prakash Mathur attended the grand celebration of Maha Shivaratri at Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham at Jalipool today, a press release informs.
The Governor started the event by performing worship rituals in the temple, following which, he offered Rudrabhishek to the Shivling as students of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham Veda Pathshala chanted Vedic hymns, the release adds.
Following the Aarti, the Governor interacted with members of the organizing committee and encouraged them to contribute to the development of the temple premises. He emphasized that the festival of Maha Shivaratri provides an opportunity for self-reflection and spiritual awakening. He extended his heartfelt greetings to all and prayed for the divine blessings of Lord Shiva to always remain with everyone.
Commending the organizers, the Governor remarked that such religious and cultural events play a vital role in fostering unity and brotherhood within society. Furthermore, he lauded their efforts in preserving and promoting the rich cultural and spiritual heritage of Sikkim.
Syari MLA Tenzing Lamtha accompanied the Governor to the temple today.
