The Organisation of Musicians and Artists of Sikkim [OMAS] has announced plans to hold a week-long celebration for its 12th foundation day at MG Marg from 21 to 26 March.
OMAS, established in 2012, was created to provide a platform for local artists.
The six-day event, titled ‘Souvenirs of Sikkim,’ will showcase the talent of budding artists and entrepreneurs.
Addressing the media, OMAS president Tshering Leezum Lepcha, informed that ‘Souvenirs of Sikkim’ will feature 25 stalls by local artists and entrepreneurs displaying handicrafts, handlooms, and bamboo items.
The event will also have an open mic session.
OMAS founder member, Sonam Gyaltsen Bhutia, further informed that the event is being supported by the Department of Commerce and Industries under the ‘RAMP’ initiative.
OMAS founder member Tshering Wangchuk Lepcha shared that a highlight of the celebration will be honoring two of the oldest bands of Sikkim, Orchid and Flicker Band, along with posthumous felicitation of Mellow Gyatso and Rahul Rai [Tribal Rain].
