Bharatiya Janata Party executive member, Pooja Sharma, represented BJP-Sikkim at the ‘One Nation, One Election’ workshop held at the BJP HQ in New Delhi on Monday, a press release informs.
The event was chaired by the Union Minister of Agriculture, Shivraj Singh Chauhan, and was also attended by the party’s national general secretary Sunil Bansal, MP [Rajya Sabha] Kamakhaya Prasad Tasa among other senior party leaders, the release adds.
The release quotes Ms Sharma as saying, “The workshop such as ONOE campaign is an incredible platform to discuss and shape the future of our nation’s electoral reforms. It was a privilege to be part of this historic initiative, discussing transformative ideas to strengthen our democracy and unify the electoral process. Proud to contribute to this vision for a progressive India.”
The workshop was attended by BJP convenors and co-convenors from 28 states and 8 union territories.
The One Nation-One Election proposal, it may be recalled, is currently under consideration by the Government of India, and aims to synchronize all elections across the country, either on a single day or within a specific timeframe.
