SUMMIT REPORT, Gangtok 24 Mar:
The State Government has issued a notification regarding the re-employment of retired government servants, aiming to streamline the process and to ensure it serves the best interests of the government.
Under Rule 102 of the Sikkim Government Service Rules, 1974, retired government officials may be re-employed if the government deems it beneficial and if the individual is physically and mentally fit. The duration of this re-employment is determined by the government.
During the re-employment period, these officials will retain all benefits accorded to regular government employees. However, new regulations stipulate that retirement benefits including Death-cum-Retirement Gratuity (DCRG), Unutilized Leave Salary, and Commuted Value of Pension will only be disbursed after the individual completes their tenure of re-employment and officially demits office.
